What else can a C7 Corvette owner do when he’s feeling a bit restless because he’s got nothing to do on a cloudy day? Why, it’s only logical: start the ‘Vette for a little rumbling, then hop inside the other car (a Mercedes) to check out what’s in front of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
That’s exactly what happened to Byron Glover Jr. - the host of YouTube automotive content channel Drive 615 – as he drove to the factory in Kentucky to spend some quality time with a friend owning the very first (VIN #007, hence the James Bond shout out on the license plate) 2021 C8 Corvette Coupe in Silver Flare.
And, because we’re dealing with Bowling Green, he was lucky enough to capture both the Silver Flare and the Red Mist, the two newest colors for the 2021 model year. According to details shared by the owner of the Silver Flare C8 (from the 1:25 mark), the car has just been taken in custody since (very) late December, and he only managed to get around 800 miles on the odometer.
It’s a careful specification because we’re not dealing with a Z51 package on this one – the Silver Flare (which is a replacement for Blade Silver) instead got quirky details such as the silver badges as well as black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. The latter bodes well with the red and black 2LT interior (GT2 seats), and the atmosphere is completed by the performance exhaust.
We also get to check out a little bit of the engine’s voice in this configuration from the five-minute mark before moving on to the Red Mist HTC example (replacement for Long Beach Red) that is casually parked in front of Bowling Green. This specification is chock-full of black details – and also comes with the Z51 package, as far as we can see.
Even better, there’s a third C8 ‘Vette on the premises, another Convertible dressed up in a color that also stands out in a crowd, the Elkhart Lake Blue. Showing the multitude of personalization options now available for the ‘Vette, this one comes with matching blue boomerang blades and a third interior configuration, another two-tone option that mixes a little bit of grey with a lot of black.
By the way, there are also some final interesting elements to check out in this video – the Silver Flare C8 comes with the “Team Corvette” and “Zora” Easter Eggs we first heard about last autumn, while Byron also brings his Iridium Silver Mercedes closer for a side-by-side comparison of the two shades from the 9-minute mark.
