Dodge's muscle car is officially dead. Assembly of the Challenger ended last month, and with it, the Stellantis-owned marque also bid farewell to its four-door sibling, the Charger.
Nevertheless, we've seen leaks and scoops of the brand's upcoming Ford Mustang (we'd also mention the Chevy Camaro, but its future is uncertain after the 2023 demise), which is expected to grace the muscle car realm at the end of the year.

We reckon it will be a while until Dodge launches a proper successor to the fabulous Hellcat series that the Demon and Demon 170 topped in the previous iteration. Both of them keep enthusiasts up at night, and if you want the punchiest ever made, then you will have to choose the latter.

A used copy, which is the only one you can get, will set you back a few hundred thousand dollars, and in return, you will get a supercharged 6.2L V8-powered beast with up to 1,025 hp (1,040 ps/765 kW) and 945 lb-ft (1,281 Nm) of torque on tap. Sure, you'll have to fill the tank with E85 to achieve these numbers, and if you do, Dodge promises you'll hit 60 mph (97 kph) in a whopping 1.66 seconds and deal with the 1/4-mile in 8.91 sec at 151.17 mph (243.28 kph).

The original Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is also a very expensive affair. It, too, packs a supercharged V8 with a 6.2-liter displacement, and in its top configuration, it is not as beastly as the Demon 170. It enjoys 840 hp (852 ps/627 kW) and 770 pound-feet (1,044 Nm). It takes 2.3 seconds to push to sixty miles an hour and needs only nine seconds to run the quarter mile.

Mind you, the Demon does not have to be an eye-watering expensive affair so long as you're not afraid of elbow grease. You could surf the used car market for a flooded or crashed example and then spend many sleepless nights in the garage to bring it back to life. And if this sounds like a great deal, then you should know that you'll have to keep an eye on the usual automotive hall of shames like iaai and copart.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon pictured above is said to have been vandalized, yet we cannot tell what's in dire need of some TLC. You can find the ad here, and should you want to inspect the muscle car in person, you will have to take a trip to Houston, Texas, as that's where you'll find it. The vehicle will go under the hammer at an upcoming online auction, and since it looks complete to us, it will probably fetch a hefty sum. How much would you be willing to cough out for it?
