Muscle car fans would give literally anything to have a classic muscle car with the latest tech underneath. Despite that, few people have ever heard of the Detroit-built Equus Bass 770.
Equus is the name of a Hyundai full-size luxury vehicle, the predecessor to the Genesis G90. However, the Equus muscle car has nothing to do with that.

It's supposed to be a modern machine that combines elements from all the best muscle car designs from the 1960s and 70s. From the back, it's undeniably shaped like a Ford Mustang Fastback, and that's because most of the design inspiration came from the Bullitt movie car.

But the Bass 770 also has hints from other icons. To us, the front end has the proportions of the first-generation Camaro, but the frame around the lights is more like a Plymouth GTX.

This fresh video from Barcroft Cars shines a fresh light on the project. However, this machine has been around for at least seven years. According to its manufacturer, the Bass 770 is entirely bespoke, built around an aluminum chassis with the body being carbon fiber. You can check out the chassis in the photo gallery - it kind of looks like a Lotus with a roll cage on top.

We'll be honest, the frame looks a lot like a stripped C6 Corvette while the body resembles the Dynacorn Mustang Fastback with just the face changed. And aren't those Dodge mirrors and trim?

The engine is a 640 horsepower aluminum-block V8 with a supercharger. So... it's an LS3 that you're not supposed to call an LS? Power is supposedly handled by a six-speed twin-clutch transaxle gearbox which gets the 3,640-pound body to 60 miles per hour (97 kph) in only 3.4 seconds. We have found older photos where it comes with a manual too.

Probably the biggest reason more people haven't bought this car is the price. The company official says it costs between $230,000 and $250,000 in this video and previous interviews. However, we found the official brochure (attached below), where it says the Bass 770 costs anywhere between $534,000 and a hell of a lot more with custom options, and for that most muscle car fans would just have a nice slice of actual history.
