BMW X5 M CS Is a Premium Super Crossover Dressed in More Exotic CGI Attire

The 2024 BMW X5 M is one of the best-looking supercrossovers in the executive segment. It is also better than its predecessors in every aspect and needs only a slight power boost to take a swing at the exotic establishment dominated by the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus.
Without any modifications, it can sprint to 60 mph (97 kph) in just 3.7 seconds, tapping out at 155 mph (250 kph). The top speed increases to 177 mph (285 kph) with the optional M Driver's Package.

Under the hood, the 2024 BMW X5 M Competition features a mild-hybrid twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, an eight-speed transmission with quicker changes and shorter gearing, an xDrive AWD system, Active M Differential, and dedicated brakes and suspension.

The ICE has updated turbos, a new intake duct, a cross-bank exhaust manifold, a reinforced crankshaft, and a few other updates, unleashing 617 hp (625 ps/460 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. That's only 40 hp (41 ps/30 kW) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) shy of the mighty Lamborghini Urus Performante, which is half a second quicker to sixty and maxes out at 306 kph (mph).

Any respectable tuner could give it new engine software and a few other bits and bobs, like a performance exhaust system, to raise the output and thrust and make it as powerful as the major players in the super crossover class. BMW's M Division also has the right tools to make it happen, but they won't, as it would step on the toes of the XM, rendering it useless.

Speaking of renderings, albeit with a different meaning this time, the BMW X5 M Competition was recently imagined in a more agile flavor with no aftermarket upgrades. The model adds the CS suffix and is the work of ildar_project on Instagram.

Inspired by the latest M3 CS, the changes are obvious, as they include the yellow DRL signature, a new hood, a modified front bumper, a fat apron, new side skirt attachments, and a bespoke diffuser with a pair of incorporated brake lights that looks like it came straight from Mansory. It also features some black and red accents to tie it to its sports sedan sibling mentioned above and comes with new wheels and what appears to be a retuned suspension.

Beefier brakes would also be needed to complete the package, alongside a few updates made to the cabin and a power boost. The M3 CS is 39 hp (40 ps/29 kW) punchier than the M3 Competition and is four-tenths faster to 60 mph, completing the sprint in 3.4 seconds. Therefore, a hypothetical X5 M CS would also be nearly half a second faster than the Competition. But should BMW's M Division go the extra mile to come up with it?
