BMW E39 M5 vs BMW E92 M3: Battle of the V8s

Back in 1998 BMW was introducing the first M car that wasn't manually built: the E39 M5. It was powered by an S62 4.9-liter V8 engine that delivered 400 HP to the rear wheels, in a majestic way.
To this day many consider the E39 the best M5 ever to come out of Bavaria. It had everything: the BMW looks (unlike the E60), power, terrible sound and power again.

The E92 M3 is the latest iteration of the classic M car that wears a number 3 after it. It's also fitted with a 4-liter V8 S65 engine and has around 420 HP to push it forward. This was (because it's no longer in production) the biggest engine ever to be fitted on an M3 and also the only V8.

As a matter of fact, the E39 M5 is also the only one to be fitted with a naturally aspirated V8, all other models having either an inline-6 architecture or a V10 (for the E60) or a turbocharged V8 for the F10.

Seeing these two going at it is a rare occasion and we're proud to make it happen. Before watching the video, tell us, who do you think is going to win?
