The guys from classiccarsclubmanhattan.com own a BMW E39 M5. No surprise there, as the Bimmer will forever be a classic. However, some members claim that the car is way too quiet.
According to them, the monstrous 4.9-liter V8 under the bonnet makes way too less noise for their liking. We agree. The S62 makes little noise, but that's part of the appeal the E39 has.
It's discrete. It's that kind of car that will blow you out of the water without talking too much. It's a pitbull, if you'd like, dog that doesn't bark too much but bites hard as hell.
Changing that about an E39 seems wrong to us but not everybody shares that opinion.
In this regard, we went out and looked at some videos on Youtube, to find out what exhaust sounds best. We have some interesting choices, counting names like Eisenmann, Remus, Supersprint and others. All this, to make an easier choice for anyone asking themselves this particular question. What do you prefer out of the bunch?
When you're all set, head on to Jalopnik and let them know what you think.
