The YouTubers from WAM Barn and Officially Gassed collided on Mat Watson's carwow section for drag races, putting to the test a couple of 'worlds-apart' cars: a Porsche 918 Spyder PHEV hypercar and a built AWD Honda Integra Type R series DC5.
What does a fourth-generation Integra from the early 2000s and a Targa top roadster from the mid-2010s have to do with each other? Well, apart from being sports cars, nothing much. For starters, the older Honda Integra Type R (also called Acura RSX) was a three-door liftback coupe powered by a two-liter K-series Honda engine.

It lived from the model years 2002 to 2006 and is currently the last installment of the original series. The reinvented Acura Integra and its Type S high-performance version is now a five-door liftback based on the eleventh-generation Honda Civic. So, it's a potential blank canvas for people to make it their own and have nothing to do with the modern incarnation.

Meanwhile, the 918 Spyder was the company's hypercar entry into the 'Holy Hybrid Hypercar' trifecta alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1, powered in plug-in hybrid form by a mid-mounted 4.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine and a couple of electric motors providing AWD. The combined output is a staggering 887 hp, according to carwow, and the current pricing of 1.4 million British pounds (around $1.78 million at the current exchange rate) just sounds otherworldly.

On the other hand, its rival is a black-and-white Honda Integra Type R that looks like it had seen better times a while ago. This sleeper, motivated by the K-series 2.0-liter engine, is a fraction of the cost of a 918 Spyder. And it would typically stand no chance, either. However, the collector from WAM Barn sent his Porsche to fight the Officially Gassed crew, and these crazy cars collided on Mat Watson's carwow section for drag races and roll races.

More precisely, because they feared the ad-hoc trial-and-error DIY AWD Honda Integra Type R turbo with sequential gearbox could go 'bang' and then 'bust' at a moment's notice, they decided to take it easy with rolling starts before giving it the full send and hoping the little Japanese liftback coupe doesn't go home in pieces. Well, if you don't want to watch the roll races, you can skip to the 13:10 mark for the final deciding battle.

Just in case you do want to know what happened beforehand, it was very close, and the winner took three races out of a total of five (or six?). Well, we kind of lost track of the repeats, but those rolls don't matter as much as the dig, right? So, in the end, the two drivers decided to give it their best shot, and both nailed perfect launches on the unprepped surface. As for the victory and overall crown, the little Honda that could actually beat the mega-expensive hypercar! And it also didn't break down, which is an even more significant accomplishment, most likely!
