The model year 1970 witnessed the departure of the 400 and the introduction of the 455ci (7.5-liter) engine, giving birth to the Buick GS 455.
The engine could be had in multiple configurations. The standard version developed 350 horsepower, but Buick also offered a four-barrel Rochester Quadrajet carbureted configuration, also known as Stage 1, with 360 horsepower.

The Stage 2 upgrade was significantly rarer and was available as a dealer-installed option. It was based on the Stage 1 configuration, but given that they weren't equipped with the package from the factory, it's unknown how many were produced.

The 1970 Buick GS 455 in these photos was saved after four decades in storage. eBay seller xolyman says it belonged to a friend's aunt, who purchased the car in 1970 specifically because they wanted a convertible for Arizona weather. The vehicle spent all but two years in the same place. The Buick was eventually retired in 1982 when the woman divorced, and she continued to drive the car for two more years before moving it to storage.

As for why she no longer drove the gorgeous GS 455, the seller says the car became a head-turning machine, so every time the woman drove it, "someone would want to look at it or buy it." She eventually got tired of all the people asking about the car, so she moved the vehicle to storage, where it remained until recently when the seller discovered and pulled it.

As for the car's condition, the seller shared a detailed description on eBay, but the most important tidbits come down to the body and the engine under the hood. You won't find any concerning rust damage, but the paint has already been resprayed once. The 455 big-block engine under the hood is now stuck, with the seller claiming it could turn over freely with some repairs. A good mechanic should inspect the engine to decrypt more information, so order a third-party inspection or go see it in person if you're interested in a purchase.

Unfortunately, the car was moved to the garage without any long-term storage preparation, so it now struggles with some mechanical issues that the next owner will have to deal with. However, the missing rust is a sign that the Buick never encountered high humidity levels.

Otherwise, it's hard to find something to complain about on this GS 455. The owner posted the car on eBay in a no-reserve auction, meaning whoever sends the highest bid will take it home. The only bid so far is $10K, but considering the auction will end in approximately six days, the digital battle will get fiercer as more people discover it. You can find this Buick for an in-person inspection in West Jordan, Utah.
