Low-Slung Crimson Buick Sedan Looks (Too) Romantic According to GM's Design Center

Currently, General Motors has very few passenger cars left in its portfolio – most of them come from Chevrolet (Malibu and C8 Corvette) and Cadillac (CT4 and CT5 series plus the all-electric Celestiq). Buick, meanwhile, doesn't save face with anything set for series production.
Chevrolet still makes the ultra-affordable $25,100 Malibu mid-size sedan and the expensive C8 Corvette. At the same time, Cadillac has found out that its CT5 sedan is a best-seller even compared to the roster of crossovers and SUVs.

So, why isn't Buick joining them in offering something with two or four doors but without the high ground clearance and price tag of a premium CUV, SUV, or truck? Well, you would have to ask the corner-office head honchos about that because even Buick's designers don't seem happy about that – otherwise, they wouldn't have made the Wildcat EV concept as the preview of things to come for a brand that only sells the Envista, Encore GX, Envision, and Enclave crossovers!

In fact, just recently, GM Design Center's social media page revealed yet another enticing ideation sketch, again penned by their designer Hakan Demir, envisioning a low-slung "romantic" Buick sedan. The dramatic presentation envisions a Buick sedan with massive concave wheels, a huge front overhang with a recessed cockpit, and a short rear. Some fans say it's great for a big, full-size Buick land yacht. Others think it's even worthy of a Pontiac revival!

However, we all know that General Motors will not build such a thing – CUVs and SUVs are more practical than sporty sedans and also commend higher MSRPs. Alas, if you like Demir's work on this hypothetical Buick sedan, know that he was involved with the conception of the Wildcat EV and that his personal social media page (hakandemirdesign) also has other wild ideas for us.

For example, this pixel master's latest personal design project involved the transformation of the original Honda Civic Type R (EK9 from 1997, based on the sixth-generation Civic) hatchback into a veritable 'Time Attack' monster with a slammed widebody attitude and various enhancements that would easily make JDM car fans drop a jaw or tow if this rascal project turned real.

Unfortunately, it would probably be way too much work to put things like a bumper-attached mega-wing or that engine in a carbon fiber hood – all the modifications would probably cost a few times more than the net worth of the donor EK9 Honda Civic Type R! Yep, this is the trouble with these imaginative CGI experts – they envision such wild things as a Buick sedan or a Civic rocket and leave us longing for more, right?
