Don't want to wait for the RS Q5 or pay the big bucks for the RS5? Then how about tuned versions of the lesser models from ABT. They're nearly as powerful, says the German shop.
Unlike the previous generation, which was available only with a twin-turbo diesel engine in Europe, this SQ5 comes with the same engine as its brothers, the S4 and S5.

We're talking about a 3.0-liter TFSI that uses one twin-scroll turbocharger instead of the supercharger of its predecessor. But you already knew that, right? The new engine is even found in the entry-level Porsche Panamera, so it's quite versatile.

And not surprisingly, Audi left a lot of power on the shelf to offer better response times. So the 354 horsepower of the SQ5 SUV can be increased to 425 HP, while torque goes up from 500 to 550 Nm.

The numbers are the same for the S5 Cabriolet. And considering what ABT's power box did for the S4 sedan and wagon, we're not surprised. The only bit we don't like is the fact that the upgrade doesn't require exhaust pipes, so the SQ5 still looks like a big faker from the back.

In the end, however, driving passion in the ABT SQ5 means much more than the sum of its parts,” said CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. “Ultimately everyone has to experience this for themselves – and thanks to ABT and its numerous partners they can already do this today.”

In the vanilla department, if you've bought a Q5 2.0 TDI with 190 HP, it goes up to 215 HP. But our current favorite ABT project happens to be that S4 with the monstered out 3.0 TDI.

The performance boosts can be followed up with a few cosmetic ones, as ABT customers can opt for the DR and ER-C design wheels as 19s and 20s, or the FR and GR as 20s. They can have gun-metal and silver-bullet color schemes, as well as matte and glossy black. Inside, it's the usual door lights, mats or logos.
