Aprilia Launches New 2017 Shiver 900 at EICMA

Aprilia combines new performance with an excellent chassis structure to create the new 2017 Shiver 900 naked sport bike that recently got unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
The new 2017 Aprilia Shiver 900 evolves from the original 2007 project that marked a turning point as the first factory bike fitted with ride-by-wire throttle technology.

For 2017, the 900 V-twin engine gets upgraded to provide more power and torque through an increased stroke, a more efficient lubrication system, new exhaust system compliant with Euro 4 regulations as well as a reprogrammed ECU. The end result counts on 95 HP and 90 Nm of twist available at 6,500 rpm.

The Shiver 900 features an advanced traction control system that guarantees maximum safety, but also pure riding enjoyment thanks to the dual control that acts on both ignition and on the motorized throttle valves, making its intervention smooth and easy to manage.

Power is nothing without control, so the updated engine got matched by an “ultra-fine chassis architecture” which is a mix of steel trellis bars and aluminum plates that provide stiffness and lightness.

Next comes an aluminum alloy swingarm with a stiffening truss that has been sized to withstand the asymmetrical stress due to the lateral positioning of the shock absorber. Funny how this is still cool with Kawasaki having got rid of this architecture on the ER6 series, though.

The front is fitted with a fully adjustable 41 mm Kayba fork and radial-mounted calipers. Two-channel ABS is a standard, and both the front and the rear uses metal braided brake lines for maximum precision and feel.

The sporty, three-spoked rims are also new and are inspired by the Aprilia Tuono V4. They help reduce the overall weight, with the front being 0.9 kg lighter than the previous model, while the rear weighs 1.3 kg less.

Last but not least, Aprilia offers a wide range of accessories dedicated to sport and touring for the 2017 Shiver 900. You can count on carbon fiber detailing, billet aluminum components, frame guard, side cases, seat bag, Bluetooth connectivity and more.
