We have always thought that it is a Mustang thing. A heavy car, rear-wheel drive, and drivers who want to show off. But it turns out that Ferrari drivers can do it just as well. An F8 Tributo owner learned the hard way that he should be more cautious and not try to awe the crowd gathered alongside the road. Well, he awed them alright! And they're going to remember the show he put on for years and years to come.
This is how almost $300,000 go down the drain in a split second. Throw caution to the wind, step the accelerator, lose grip and end up, nose first, in the concrete divider in front of a crowd. Worst case scenarios do happen. And this time it happened at a Cars and Coffee event that took place near Houston, Texas.

A white Ferrari F8 Tributo ended up in pieces after the driver lost control and his car started fishtailing on the road. Several onlookers posted footage of the car crashing with a ‘bang’ on social media.

Dozens of people ran to the crash scene to get a better look of the aftermath and to check on the driver. A police car was immediately right next to the Ferrari.

Traffic was closed for hours before the roadway was cleared and other cars could drive by with no risk of getting a flat tire. Parts of the F8 Tributo were scattered hundreds of feet away. The impact looked much like an explosion. Now the Harris County Police is investigating the accident.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was shaken up a little bit. It must have been the shock of seeing his car totally deformed. His Ferrari will probably end up in a scrapyard.

The owner of the Ferrari, a local car collector, had reportedly owned the car for only a week, according to the Cars Across Texas YouTube channel. Now that’s reason for a broken heart over a Prancing Horse. But he has two Lamborghinis back home to keep him comfort.

So it's not just a Mustang thing after all...

What did the owner of the Ferrari F8 Tributo actually lose?

Well, his ego, first of all. And his one-week old car as well. The Ferrari F8 Tributo is powered by the company’s much acclaimed 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8, the exact one that sets the 488 Pista in motion. Those figures make it the most potent Ferrari engine to date.

It churns out 710 horsepower (720 PS/530 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque.

The Maranello brand claims that the F8 Tributo flashes from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kph) in 2.9 seconds, it hits 124 mph (200 kph) in 7.6 seconds, and hits a top speed of 211 mph (340 kph).
