So you’ve seen Chris Harris take a BMW M235i around a track with a huge cloud of smoke behind him and all you’ve ever dreamed about since was doing the same. You think that going sideways on a track is as easy as breathing and that everyone can do it as long as they have the guts to pull that handbrake at the right time and floor it, right?
“All you need is courage!’ you might’ve thought but that’s not even 10 percent of what real drifting is. That’s just scratching the surface. And yes, we mean the tutorial Chris put together too. Sure, he’s handing out some really good pointers but that’s just the beginning.

Once this bug gets a hold of yourself, be ready to invest all your time and money in it. You'll also have to be willing to crash once or twice, hurting the car you probably love more than your girlfriend. And the winnings? Well, if you do manage to defeat the champions of the moment, you won’t get rich.

Sure, working as a stunt driver will be possible and you might end up doing shots with some of the best in the field but without hard work you’ll never reach that Ken Block status you’re dreaming of.

The video below shows just how easy it is to mess up and how real drifting looks like, especially in a competition such as the one presented in it. We’re talking about the Estonian stage of Europe’s Drift Allstars 2014 competition that has some of the best drivers in the world in it.

As is the case in every such contest, BMWs could miss and we get to see two beautiful E46 models that do what they know best: smoke their rear tires. Check it out!
