With real estate getting more and more expensive, tiny homes are seen by many as a solution to turn their vision of joining the ranks of homeowners into reality. Designs with single-floor layouts and ground-floor bedrooms have become very popular lately among tiny dwellers, and builders are hard at work catering to the needs of those who loathe the idea of having to climb up stairs or ladders.
Firefly Tiny Homes' latest creation is also targeted at downsizers who prefer the comfort and convenience of a single-story tiny home. It's an upgraded version of the builder's Prairie model, and besides eschewing lofts, it also offers 10 feet (3 meters) of width, which makes the interior considerably more open and spacious.

Designed for comfort and practicality, this gorgeous tiny house on wheels boasts a modern exterior design and a classic interior layout with a large living room, dining area, and kitchen that combine into a single open-plan room, a private main-floor bedroom, and a separate bathroom. It sits on a triple-axle foundation trailer and measures 32 feet (9.8 meters) in length, which makes it one of the largest models offered by the South Carolina-based company. Though it only has one bedroom on the ground floor, this abode can accommodate occasional guests in the living room, and the few extra feet in width make a great difference in terms of elbow room to move around.

Prairie is built with a high-performance shell, closed cell spray foam insulation, and high-quality materials throughout and comes equipped with everything you need for full-time living or a luxurious vacation rental, representing a testament to the team's commitment to quality and functionality.

The exterior is finished in a combination of maintenance-free engineered wood and black board and batten steel siding with lux wood look metal accents, coupled with a durable galvanized metal roof, resulting in a modern aesthetic that will easily catch your eye. The interior, meanwhile, boasts Eastern white pine tongue and groove paneling throughout with laminate wood floorings and large windows with sweeping views. The extensive use of wood inside this house creates the cozy ambiance of a rustic cabin in the woods and invites you to sit back and relax.

In order to maintain a neat, clutter-free ambiance, the designers incorporated various clever storage solutions throughout, including ample built-in storage under the double bed, a large dresser, plenty of cabinets in the kitchen, and space for even more cabinets and shelves on the walls.

As you step inside through the full-light door, you enter the main living area that includes the kitchen up front and the lounge and dining spaces on your left. The kitchen offers an elegant cooking space outfitted with white shaker-style cabinets, a large pantry cabinet, and beautiful acacia butcher block countertops. LED lighting under the cabinets results in a nice play of light and shadow, creating an atmosphere that exudes elegance and refinement.

The kitchen is also packed with various modern appliances, including a deep ceramic apron sink, a two-burner induction cooktop, an electric water heater, and an apartment-size fridge. An outlet inside the pantry cabinet allows owners to add either a microwave or a toaster oven for increased functionality.

Thanks to the extra width of this Prairie model, the builders could incorporate more amenities compared to other tinies out there. The dining area, for instance, is a nice surprise. Conveniently placed across from the kitchen, the dining space includes a proper table that can seat up to six people instead of the narrow foldable table or breakfast bar you typically find in tiny homes. The table can easily be moved around and double as a kitchen island for meal prep or even a workspace if necessary.

The adjacent living room is minimally furnished with a convertible sofa and an entertainment center, which leaves plenty of room for personalization. Owners can add a TV on the wall for movie nights, a coffee table, decorations, rugs, and anything they feel would make the space more welcoming. Since there is no formal separation between the lounge and the kitchen, the entire open-plan area is the ideal setting for hosting game nights or dinners with the family.

The only bedroom inside this home is cozy and intimate, with a sliding door ensuring complete privacy. It is spacious enough for a double bed, nightstands, and a dresser, with plenty of space left to walk around the bed. Two large windows invite the outside in and allow dwellers to rest and recharge while taking in the views.

Prairie's bathroom is also carefully designed for maximum convenience, with a shower cabin with glass door, a flush toilet, a vanity, and a mirror. There is also a dedicated space with hookups for a washer/dryer unit, but it can also be used as a closet if you don't need laundry.

Versatile, comfortable, and convenient, this tiny home on wheels is very practical and elegant at the same time. Those who like single-story tinies with rustic vibes and minimalist open-plan interiors will surely love the Prairie model. With its extra width and spacious functional areas, it is a great option for anyone looking for increased living space while still keeping their dwelling small and efficient.
