After experiencing various financial and management issues, Lotus is now back in the spotlights and we have good news about the British carmaker. Until Lotus decides what to do with its plan that was supposed to see it release five different high-power models, as well as a city car, the company could get busy by building the production versions of the new Renault Alpine and the Infiniti Emerge-e concepts.
The latter’s concept is already based on the Lotus Evora 414E concept, which uses a range-extender drivetrain and this could very well be used also for the fresh Renault Alpine, as Renault has previously confirmed that, if the vehicle receives the production green light, it would have to be mid- or rear-engines.

If the deal is completed, it would bring a much-needed cash and action injection for Lotus. As for Renault and Infiniti, since the two are connected via the Nissan-Renault alliance, the move would allow them to reduce costs, even if we are talking about two special vehicles that don’t usually offer this kind of benefit for the companies that build them.
