Just before the start of the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, there was a debate among Subaru fans about which model deserved the honor of stealing the event's spotlight on the red carpet.
Subaru is not as big as Toyota, Honda, or Nissan, but just like Mazda, it enjoys a significant following among automotive enthusiasts. Just recently, the 2023 J.D. Power Customer Loyalty study ranked the brand with top honors among Mass Market Brand SUV Owners with a loyalty rate of more than 61%.

That bodes well for the company's LA Auto Show release – the all-new 2025 Subaru Forster, rocking a sleeker and contemporary interior, new exterior styling, and advanced technology. "The sixth-generation SUV offers the most advanced features, modern design, and improved ride comfort in its history," said Subaru when it presented the new Forster in Los Angeles.

But that's probably just the start of the refresh procedures across the Subaru Global Platform, which is now more challenging than ever before. Subaru still has three other crossovers on sale in America – the base Crosstrek, the iconic Outback, and the flagship Ascent. Obviously, they will not change to Crosstrek anytime soon because the third generation was introduced in 2022 for the 2024 model year. They will also not give us a new Outback because that one is only two years older than the Crosstrek.

So, that leaves us with the Ascent mid-size crossover SUV with three rows of seats that succeeded the Tribeca nameplate in 2018. That makes it Subaru's oldest CUV across its North American roster – and a prime contender for the rumor mill's belief that it's next up for gaining an all-new iteration. The imaginative realm of digital car content creators even thought it could drop by the LA Auto Show before finding out it was the 2025 Forster taking the prime time, actually.

But that hasn't stopped them from further portraying their visions about the upcoming next Ascent. PoloTo is a distinctively named automotive news video channel on YouTube - and they also share dreams of new models created with (some) assistance from AI software. The imagined, unofficial 2025 Subaru Ascent doesn't look like a traditional Subie – it's more like a Ford, if you ask us, at least from the front. But if you look at the rear POV, it's back to the usual Subaru business.

So, do you think Subaru would completely change the face of its flagship CUV anytime soon? If not, no worries, because the resident pixel master used AI's help to devise a few alternate stylings for their hypothetical 2025 Ascent that closely cater to what Subaru fans perceive as the brand's current design. As for powertrains, we don't expect many changes – just maybe the addition of a Toyota hybrid unit alongside the Subaru boxer, of course.
