Honda is more judicious with its North American novelties than the prolific Toyota rival. However, its strengths reside in other places – a potent mix of novelty and trusted reliability, for example.
Just recently, we learned from Honda of America that it maintained strong momentum throughout November, and Acura plus Honda vehicle sales were up 32.8% compared to last year. That puts the company ahead 33.2% overall before the tally for the final month of the year.

Even better, Honda also says that its namesake brand was recently named the number one mainstream marque in residual values for the third year in a row in ALG's annual 'Top Retained Value' list. As for new model introductions, the two brands count on the refreshed 2024 Acura TLX sports sedan or the more rugged 2024 Ridgeline pickup truck to keep the headlines during the first months of next year.

No worries; the Japanese company will also bring all-new models to the market. They recently surprised everyone by getting to the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, the revived Honda Prelude hybrid concept first showcased at the inaugural Japan Mobility Show, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show, for almost seven decades.

So, we have high hopes they will soon add another nameplate to the roster – which currently consists of the Civic, Accord, and Odyssey passenger cars plus the HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, Passport crossover SUVs, and the singular Ridgeline unibody mid-size pickup truck. As for the rumor mill, they don't think that will happen too soon, so it's only natural that they asked the imaginative realm of digital car content creators to focus on dreaming new versions of Honda's current roster.

Many pixel masters think the 2025 Civic Hybrid is next in line for an official presentation, but others would love to envision an all-new Passport alongside the recently redesigned 2024 Pilot. For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm. After coming up with ideas for the next Hyundai Palisade or a China-built Cadillac CT5, among others, now he's CGI-running after a new Passport.

In production since 1993, the nameplate was originally a badge-engineered version of the Isuzu Rodeo, and in that form, it survived for two generations until the spring of 2002. Later on, in 2018, the Japanese automaker announced the third Passport iteration at the Los Angeles Auto Show, now designed in America and built alongside the three-row Pilot Lincoln, Alabama. Two peas in the same pod, the models differ by having the Passport ditch the third row and featuring a shorter wheelbase.

Despite that, if you look at the MSRPs, you will surprisingly find out the 2024 Pilot retails from $37k, whereas the older 2024 Passport starts from almost $42k before even factoring in the destination and other charges. What's up with that? Well, perhaps a subtle redesign that will align the fourth-gen Passport with its larger Pilot sibling, like in this pixel master's unofficial rendering – will solve the conundrum.

Sure, the Passport could still hold the not-so-delightful honor of being the most expensive Honda crossover SUV – it's only topped by the $44,795 Civic Type R for 2024MY – if the Passport TrailSport and other trims would come with a hybrid powertrain as a standard setup for the next generation's stint. After all, an electric motor or two working in conjunction with the 3.5-liter J35Y6 V6 would make the Passport a bit more sustainable and also a lot more attractive when compared to the competition, right?
