It hasn't been that long since American carmaker Ford pulled the wraps of its first fully electric SUV, and people are still talking about it. Perhaps not about the car per se, as in the present day and age making such a vehicle does make sense, but about the decision to include it in the Mustang family.
Those opposing the move argue that although an electric Mustang would be something they could live with, not the same can be said about one playing in the SUV segment. Yet, like it or not, poor or less so naming decision, the Mustang Mach-E is here, and it’s here to stay.
And probably so will another oddly named concoction from Ford. This time we’re not talking about a car, but a network of fast charging stations dedicated to the Mach-E. Arguably, having a carmaker-backed network of stations is a good idea, and Tesla has proven that time and time again with its Superchargers.
Ford apparently wants a piece of that, and it is working on creating such a network. And it even chose a name for it, according to a filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) uncovered recently, but filed with the organization back in 2018, before the Mustang Mach-E was even a thing. And that name is Fastor Charge. No typo there.
As per the official documents, the trademark, which is yet to be approved, consists of the words Fastor Charge in script, and the “image of a blue and white electrical cord extending from the letter F above the wording. The word Fastor is blue, the word Charge is green.” The proposal was filed under the “charging station services for electric vehicles, battery charging services, vehicle service stations” category.
There will be some time before the application is approved, and that does not necessarily mean Ford will use it, but if it does, their charging network will have the dorkiest name in the business.
