Luxury car manufacturer and Honda subsidiary Acura will produce new cars and crossovers in China by 2016 as part of Honda's newly signed deal with the Guangzhou Automobile Group.
Although details have yet to be revealed, the partnership could spawn a production version of the Acura SUV-X concept that was unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. Smaller than the RDX, the SUV-X was the first Acura vehicle to debut outside of North America.
Honda is not the only automaker to develop vehicles in China by working with local companies. General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Nissan are already building cars in the country. In fact, since China's premium car demand is likely to surpass that of the United States, all major automakers are expected to sign similar agreements in the near future.
