Being a relatively new company, compared to the established names, Acura, Honda’s luxury sub-brand, has perhaps found it difficult sometimes to win over buyers, even if their products were very competitive. Now, they have set their ambitions quite high, and are looking to grab as large-a-chunk as possible from the US executive sedan category.
For this purpose, they have now unveiled the car they are planning to do it with - the all-new RLX, which was first shown, in concept form, at last year’s New York motor show. The concept itself looked well-designed and clean (if a little bland), and thankfully, the car has retained the exact design, with different bumpers, trim pieces and proper wheels with road tires.

Inside, the RLX looks plush-enough, yet it reminds us too much of the interior found on the new Accord, and since we don’t find it particularly good in any area, we say they could have done better, as customers in the class they are trying to enter really look for an excellent and nice-looking, as well as comfortable interior. However, its interior is no match for those found in the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series or the new Lexus GS.

Its only available engine option will be a 3.5-liter V6 engine, with Variable Cylinder Management. It produces 310 hp, which is sent the wheels via re-engineered Sequential SportShift six-cog autobox. An all-wheel drive hybrid model will also be available which will have 370 hp of peak power, yet it will be able to return an impressive 30 mpg combined.
