If you're a fan of action movies, you surely know the Mission Impossible series, starring the one and only Tom Cruise. The upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One's premiere was held on June 19 in Rome, one of the locations where it was filmed. Abarth appeared alongside the movie stars, specifically two of its models featured in the movie.
Abarth two main characters are the new all-electric Abarth 500e and the iconic 1960s Fiat 500 Abarth. The latter can also be seen in the movie's trailer in a high-speed pursuit.
The Mission Impossible series is synonymous with non-stop action. In this next installment, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team have to face yet another threat that, of course, threatens all humanity. Ethan has to put the importance of his mission ahead of the lives of those he cares about most, something he struggles with considering.
The movie is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the mind behind the latest Mission Impossible films and the Jack Reacher movies, also starring Tom Cruise. Dead Reckoning Part One was shot in Rome, London, Abu Dhabi, and several other locations and will hit movie theaters across the globe on July 12.
It's no coincidence that Abarth partnered up with Mission Impossible – the Italian brand is all about thrilling driving experiences, just like the ones the audience will enjoy in the upcoming film. The goal is to emphasize the common feeling shared by both brands: adrenaline, power, exciting driving, and extraordinary performance.
These values will be showcased in "Mission Possible," a new TV spot where Abarth wants to demonstrate that the new 500e can offer the same excitement, emotions, and fun as a conventional version, making it a "Mission Possible."
The Abarth 500e was launched in November last year with a 152-hp (155-ps) electric motor and a 42-kWh battery. This combo allows the EV to speed up to 62 mph (100 kph) from a standstill in just seven seconds. The 500e has a range of up to 165 miles (265 km), and it can be recharged at up to 85 kW when hooked to DC mains.
Initially, Abarth unveiled the Scorpionissima launch edition, which sold out in the meanwhile. Later, the brand came up with two other regular variants, the 500e and the 500e Turismo, offered as hatchbacks or cabriolets.
Both models are available with the controversial Sound Generator, the result of more than 6,000 hours of development work. The system was engineered "to reproduce the legendary sound of the Abarth engine." Some say it's a cool feature, while others believe it creates a fake experience. Either way, the driver can turn it on and off, so no harm is done.
