Italy has had it rough over the past couple of months, but at last there is some light on the horizon. The auto industry, paralyzed like many others, is slowly coming back online, and with it the launch of new models.
The first to break the silence is Alfa Romeo, which on Thursday (May 7) pulled the wraps off the new versions of the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. And by new, the Italians talk about visual upgrades on the outside, comfort enhancements inside, sprinkled with some system upgrades, but sadly no extra power for the already potent powertrain.

For the 2020 model year, the two cars will continue to use the same engine, a 2.9-liter V6 bi-turbo linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission that cranks out 510 hp and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) of torque.

On the outside, the modifications are limited to new LED rear light clusters with dark lenses and glossy black finish at the front and rear. There are some Mopar-designed parts for the two cars now available, including a carbon fiber front grille with “V” inserts, mirror caps and rear spoiler.

On the inside, Alfa Romeo gifted the two models with a redesigned center console with more storage space, and a new steering wheel wrapped in leather. Most importantly, a new infotainment system is available, in the form of an 8.8-inch central touchscreen.

Equally important is the addition of Level 2 autonomous driving technologies. Developed together with Bosch, they allow the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio to take over control of the accelerator, brakes and steering under certain circumstances.

These ADAS systems include lane keep assist, blind spot assist, active cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.

The revised version of the two new Alfas will go on sale in Europe after the summer ends. Prices have not yet been announced. Full details on the changes meant for 2020 can be found in the press release section below.
