It may not look or feel outdated yet, but the Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) Grandland will blow seven candles off its birthday cake this year. Therefore, Stellantis, which is the brand's parent company, has started working on its successor.
The all-new Opel (Vauxhall) Grandland, if that is indeed its name, has been spied several times, and it should be due in the second half of the year. The model is expected to feature electric and internal combustion power, and the latest scoops show an EV, which is evident by the lack of tailpipes and closed-off grille.

Compared to its predecessor, it has a different grille that should feature the new Blitz logo. It has new headlamps, a cleaner-looking front bumper with a narrower and taller air intake in the middle, and a fresh hood that retains the clamshell-like design.

Its shoulders are more muscular and it has new lines running on the sides. The traditional door handles are a nice touch over the flush-mounted ones that the industry is steadily heading to, and out back, it sports a taller tailgate that should open into a more spacious cargo area. The taillamps are partially visible from beneath the trippy camo, and it retains the rear bumper positioning of the license plate.

Overall, the new Opel Grandland looks a bit bigger, and it should offer a roomier backseat, alongside enhanced storage. As we mentioned in the title, it will share its construction with the upcoming Jeep Compass. The STLA Medium platform is already used on the latest Peugeot 3008 and e-3008, supporting ICE and EV power.

Reports speak of familiar powertrains in the all-quiet versions, which should be identical to the new Peugeot e-3008. If that is the case, look for 207 hp (210 ps/254 kW) in the entry-level variant, assisted by a 73 kWh battery pack that enables a 326-mile (525 km) autonomy in the French model. The e-3008 also gets a 227 hp (230 ps/169 kW) Long Range derivative with 435 miles (700 km) of range and a 315 hp (320 ps/235 kW) dual-motor option that can travel 326 miles (525 km) between charges.

The upcoming Grandland is rumored to launch with mild-hybrid gasoline power, too, with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. A plug-in hybrid option should also be on the list, and if that's correct, then it will offer a versatile powertrain lineup that would cater to most shoppers in the compact crossover segment. More on this when it premieres, likely in a few months, with the first copies rolling off the line, perhaps close to the end of the year. Would you want Stellantis to bring the Grandland to our shores, perhaps as a rebadged Dodge?
