2024 Redhawk SE Is Jayco's Most Affordable Class C Motorhome: Ready for All-Season Fun

That's right; a tad under $122K, or $121,718 (€111,300 at current exchange rates), to be precise, is what Jayco is asking future owners to consider dropping on their least expensive Class C RV from the 2024 lineup. It's dubbed the Redhawk SE, and while it may come across as a rather tight-fit unit, it can still accommodate up to five guests no matter the floorplan.

But there's so much more to this story than meets the eye, and to understand what's going on here, let's take a little break from our busy day and picture ourselves living out of a Redhawk.

Now, this is a Class C motorhome, so we can leave our truck and 4x4 at home because this thing is built upon a Chevy 4500 or Ford E-450 with a 6.6 l Vortec V8 or 7.3 l V8 engine, respectively. But this does depend on the layout you choose, so take the time to find the one that's fit for you, or just go with your favorite brand. From here, systems such as hill start assist, power anti-lock brakes, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), catalytic converter theft deterrent, traction control, and several others are added.

All this is used to ensure you make it to your destination, and once you do, it's time to really dive into all that the Redhawk has to offer. Overall, six floorplans are available, but four of them expand the interior with the presence of a slide-out, typically housing either the master bed or a dinette. The remaining units don't include a slide-out but offer up to five extra feet in length, ensuring that no one feels claustrophobic.

Once your legs are stretched and the Redhawk too, it's time to start unloading your beast of burden. Maybe you brought along an outdoor dining set, a privacy tent for the outdoor shower, or an annex. Maybe you have a bike rack hitched up or kayaks on the roof; a tent for the kids will do, and don't forget your outdoor grilling station.

With your campsite now in full swing, let your minions (children) run wild while you finally get that slice of peace and quiet you've been searching for all year. While most folks will probably take a seat under this unit's awning or really settle onto their outdoor lifestyle, the interior still needs to be explored.

As we access the interior of these units, be it via the side entry or right from the cab, we'll find ourselves in the middle of a sort of galley-o-living room filled with everything from a modular dinette to a fully-equipped kitchen and even access to a bathroom just a few steps away.

Take a moment and picture yourself in the center of a Redhawk and look around. As you do, try to spot features like the 10-cubic-foot fridge, two-burner top, hardwood cabinet doors, and leatherette seating. Don't bother looking for the 30,000 BTU furnace, 6-gal gas/electric heater, and water filtration system, but just know that it's all there.

Now, I've had quite a bit of time to inspect the details of Jayco presents on their website, and at first, I had no idea how up to five guests can be accommodated in a Redhawk. After all, a queen bed and modular four-person dinette isn't enough to sustain four people, right? Right, but with the inclusion of an overhead bunk with a 750-pound (340 kg) weight limit, anything is possible. Traveling as a couple? Use this space for nothing more than storage.

This brings me to my final point regarding the 2024 Redhawk: the way it's built. By the looks of things, Jayco used their proprietary StrongholdVBL technique to create the roof, floor, and sidewalls, resulting in units with insulation standards rated up to R-24 for the roof, R-9 for the floor, and R-5 for the walls. There's also a winterization drain system in place, and I think you can see where I'm going with this.

What does all this mean for you and me? Well, let's put it all together and see. First off, it means a unit that's ready for couples, for when you're traveling with friends and even with family. It means a motorhome with enough attention to detail that you don't have to worry about how cold or hot it's going to be wherever you're headed. And finally, it means an RV that, despite its size and capabilities, is a bit more accessible in terms of price in comparison to other units around. Heck, even Jayco themselves sell Class C RV that cost nearly double the price of a Redhawk.
