Remember when the Maverick was brand-spanking new for 2022? Back in June 2021, the XL hybrid was listed at $19,995 plus $1,495 for the destination charge. Toward the end of the 2023 model year, the unibody trucklet used to be $22,595 plus $1,595 for both the XL hybrid and turbo. Come July 2023 for the 2024 model year, the Maverick retails from $23,400 plus $1,595.
It's easy to blame rising production costs and inflation for this increase, but remember that Ford has a thing for inflating the prices of extremely popular vehicles. Where there's demand, there's also the prospect of higher profits. With the Maverick constantly outselling the Hyundai Santa Cruz and larger Honda Ridgeline, you shouldn't be surprised by the new model's prices.

Even so, the Maverick still is the most affordable new pickup that you can buy in the United States of America. The Santa Cruz, for example, is currently listed at $26,650 sans DFC on Hyundai's US website. Step up to a midsizer, and you're looking at nearly $30k for a Colorado or a bit more than $30k for a Ranger.

The build & price tool for the 2024 Ford Maverick shows the very same XL, XLT, and Lariat grades we all know and love. Ford's online configurator defaults to the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo at $23,400 for the XL, $26,315 for the XLT, and $34,855 for the Lariat. Only the Lariat comes standard with all-wheel drive. Switch to the 2.5-liter hybrid, and the range-topping Lariat loses all-wheel drive because said powertrain comes exclusively with front-wheel drive.

Prices for the fuel-sipping choice range between $24,900 for the XL to $34,135 for the Lariat. If you have the patience to throw everything at the hybrid-powered Lariat, the Ford Motor Company is much obliged to charge you $45k for a fully-loaded truck.

Other than different prices, what else is new for 2024? For starters, the Dearborn-based automaker has deleted four exterior colors in favor of Azure Gray and Terrain. The discontinued paint colors are Cyber Orange, Alto Blue, Area 51, and Avalanche Gray. Ford also discontinued the Tremor Off-Road Plus Appearance Package, whereas the Tremor Off-Road Package includes look-at-me hood and door decals for 2024.

The side mirrors are painted black regardless of trim level, making it rather easy to tell the 2024 apart from the 2023 and 2022. Standard equipment now includes a wireless phone charger, the Blind Spot Information System, the Lane Keeping System, and Co-Pilot360 Assist. The latter comprises adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane centering, evasive steering assist, and rear park sensors for extra peace of mind. The XLT Luxury Package includes a modular hard drop-in bedliner, the Lariat Luxury Package is standard in the Lariat, and said package includes a spray-in bedliner.

On that note, don't get your hopes up on taking delivery of a 2.5-liter hybrid anytime soon because only 35 percent of 2024 vehicles will get said powertrain. Key restraints also include the XL (20 percent as opposed to 53 and 27 for the XLT and Lariat), Tremor Off-Road Package and FX4 Package (10 and 10 percent), and 4K Tow Package (20 percent). Production is due to start in October 2023, meaning that first deliveries for the US market will take place by year's end. As ever, the Maverick is made in Mexico rather than the US of A.
