2024 marks the third model year for the Maverick, a compact pickup with Escape and Bronco Sport underpinnings. The good folks at Maverick Truck Club learned what's in the offing, and there's both good news and bad news. That said, let's begin with the bad stuff.
First and foremost, the 2.5-liter hybrid is optional. Second, the XL is estimated to make up 20 percent of the production mix. The XLT and Lariat are listed with 53 and 27 percent, respectively. Ford also estimates that 2.5-liter hybrid production will total 35 percent, and that the Tremor Off-Road Package is limited to 10 percent.

Last but not least, Maverick prices are going up across the board. The XL turbo will start at $24,995 (including the $1,595 destination charge), whereas $35,730 is the sticker price of the Lariat hybrid. By comparison, the XL turbo and hybrid both retail at $22,595 plus $1,595 freight and the $645 acquisition fee. The Lariat hybrid is presently listed at $30,595 (including both fees).

When it comes to product changes, the list kicks off with two new colors: Azure Gray and Terrain. The paint color palette will – unfortunately – lose Area 51, Cyber Orange, Alto Blue, and Avalanche Gray. Customers in the market for the Bronco Sport Badlands-inspired Tremor will be presented with a hood and door decal delete option. Mirrors will be painted black across all trims, Co-Pilot360 Assist will be standard, BLIS and Lane Keeping System have also been elevated to standard equipment, and so has the wireless charger.

Opting for the Lariat Luxury Package gets you a spray-in bedliner, whereas the XLT Luxury Package gets you a hard drop-in bedliner. Job 1 and the OK to buy are planned for October 2023, and price protection has been confirmed for 2023-to-2024 orders. The order guide and official pricing will become available in the week of July 10, whereas the order banks will open on July 17. Of course, build & price will go live on July 17 as well.

Ford isn't protecting 2024-to-2025 orders, which means only one thing. A mid-cycle refresh is on the horizon, although not much is known about it. A street performance variant, which may bear the ST moniker, is rumored to be added to the lineup. If the Maverick ST does happen, then look forward to a 2.3-liter EcoBoost under the hood. The Escape- and Bronco Sport-twinned Lincoln Corsair dropped this engine after model year 2022. Back then, it belted out a respectable 295 horsepower at 5,500 revolutions per minute and 310 pound-feet (420 Nm) at 3,000 revolutions per minute.

The 2.0-liter EcoBoost is no slouch either. In our recent piece about the fastest pickup trucks in the world as of 2023, the Maverick ranked 19 out of 20 thanks to a top speed of 110 miles per hour (177 kilometers per hour). As for 0-60 acceleration, Car and Driver ran 5.9 seconds with the turbo and 7.7 seconds with the hybrid lump.
