Ford has just unveiled the refreshed F-150 at NAIAS 2023 and has confirmed the arrival of the Raptor variant. The 2024 Raptor Rmpickup truck would be the most potent F-150 ever built.
They don’t call it a 'raptor' for nothing. The Ford F-150 Raptor has never been underpowered. The first generation dropped back in 2010 with the standard 5.4-liter V8 that generated 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. There was also the optional 6.2-liter V8 that delivered 411 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. In 2011, Ford decided to ditch the 5.4-liter V8, sticking with the 6.2 unit.

The second generation arrived in 2017. Oddly, Ford did not have a V8 engine ready for the Raptor then. Instead, they came with the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, in a detuned version compared to the one that powered the Ford GT supercar. Rated at 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, the powertrain marked the debut of the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission.

In 2021, Ford brought the third generation, again with the 3.5-liter V6 with 450 horsepower, with the optional V8 present in the lineup. Now, for the refreshed F-150, FoMoCo has already confirmed that the 5.2-liter Predator supercharged V8 is making a comeback. The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R gets 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque from that power plant. The 2024 model year will get more.

It is the same power plant that works under the hood of the Mustang Shelby GT500. The sports car comes with 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque delivered to the rear axle via the Tremec dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. The unit that will power the F-150 Raptor R will come in a detuned version and will steer its resources to all four corners. Knowing Ford’s ego, the output should be over what the Ram 1500 TRX gets from its supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which is capable of 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

The mods list on the refreshed Ford F-150 Raptor includes the presence of dual-valve Fox shocks offered on pickup trucks equipped with the 37-inch tires, a modular front bumper, revised headlights, and a new body color, Shelter Green, plus new hood graphics. Meanwhile, the base Raptor is getting 35-inch tires, minus all these features.

Full specs of the Raptor variant are yet to be released. Ford has already unveiled prices for the F-150, with the Raptor included. The 2024 model year can be driven home by those who pay $76,775. But that is the MRSP of the V6-powered version. Those who want to get their hands on the V8-powered Raptor will have to check the box for the Raptor R Equipment Group, which comes for an extra $30,575, taking the price to a total of  $109,900.
