In the search for some of the most capable on-road living machines, my explorations have taken me to the United Kingdom. It's here that I locked eyes with the Warwick class campervans from Auto-Sleepers, one of Britain's most renowned RV and motorhome manufacturers.
Back in 1961, two brothers embarked upon a venture that would transform into an RV brand that's still around today; a sort of Airstream and Winnebago of the UK. Well, take over 60 years of experience, throw it all into a campervan, and the result is the company's "top-selling" Class B RV. Ready those checkbooks because if you've been looking for a couple's mobile home, this may be it.

Now, to kick things off, two versions are available for the Warwick, the Duo and the XL, the latter of which is an iteration of the first, just taken a bit further with comfort, styling, and features. Since this is the more equipped version, I'll cover the features here while briefly mentioning a bit about the Duo. Those differences can also be found in the starting price of the RVs, with the Duo starting at £73,000 ($93K at current exchange rates) and the XL at a tad under £76,000 ($97K).

Overall, Auto-Sleepers has chosen Peugeot as the manufacturer for this RV's chassis. Aside from a turbo diesel engine that pumps out 165 HP, a Glide-Rite semi-air suspension (optional) is in place to ensure the smoothest ride around without breaking the bank. Optionally, future owners can also go with a Fiat Ducato engine. Chassis aside and all, what I found rather neat about this class of machines is that it includes an array of external features aimed at outdoor living. Features like an awning, solar panel, floating TV, and slide-out entrance step are just some of the goodies you can grab, some of which will cost extra. Take the time to see what's possible on the manufacturer's website.

However, an exterior is just that, an exterior, a shell used to brandish your life choices to the world, but it's what's inside that counts, and the Warwicks lack nothing in terms of comfort, capability, and simplicity, all of which are aimed at a complete living experience. Climb in, and let's explore.

I want to start this exploration of the Warwicks at the very front of the vans. Here, pivoting seats (exempt XL) ensure the interior space can be left untouched during chit-chats with welcomed guests and also allows for easy access to the interior spaces and features. Pull over for a moment, twist the seat around, and take that restroom or cigarette break you've needed. Maybe you pull over for the night, in which case, you'll probably want to cook a meal, take a shower, and hit the hay.

To do so, Auto-Sleepers equips the XL with a three-burner top, microwave oven, and a fridge/freezer with more than enough space for the foodstuffs and drinks you need on extended weekends or until your next pit stop. With a sink, faucet, drawers, and cupboards, you're set to whip up three-course meals. To enjoy said meals, the rear of the Warkwicks includes a removable table, one that's also used to expand the bedding space from two singles into a large double bed. Across from the galley, the XL and Duo both include the bathroom. However, it's the XL that showcases a slightly larger space with more wiggle room.

Once you've completed your needs, it's time to change into something a little more comfortable and hit the hay. Remember, the rear of these campervans is also reserved for the bedroom. Once meals and conversations have been consumed, it's time to lower the dining table and arrange the bedding cushions. Lights out.

As for the next day and what to expect, it all depends on the sort of travel plans you have in store. Maybe you and your significant other are the sort of people that love winter sports. According to the sort of brand images Auto-Sleepers has on Warwick's product page, this puppy can handle winter fun. You will, however, need to drop some extra bucks on a winterization package.

Let's say you like watersports. With countless options and an interior that leaves a bit of space for personal touches, you could easily bring along some boards for hitting the local waves or lounging around on some beach. Best of all, Auto-Sleepers also has the avid off-grid lover in its view, so for some extra cash, you can transform this bugger into a self-sustaining unit to be used out in the wild, if only for a few days.

From where I stand, the Warwick campervans are just the base vehicles you need to take your mobile and outdoor lifestyle to the next level. With a bit of extra cash, not much, you can pimp out your base machine to a standard that's sure to grab the attention of those you pass by. You just need to travel to the UK and/or Europe to get your hands on one. If you're from North or South America, you'll need to ship one over and even make some modifications to the systems and floor plan. After all, they drive over on the left in the UK, and that's a no-go in the US. For some, the Warwick will stand as inspiration for a unit done right.
