Following the revival of the Gladiator nameplate in late 2018, Jeep is working on bringing back another one of its historic vehicles, the Wagoneer. Originally produced from 1962 to 1991, the Wagoneer in its newest form is getting ready to be unveiled probably sometime next year.
Based on the technologies developed for the current Dodge Ram vehicles, the new Wagoneer was announced as far back as 2011, but for various reasons it has been continuously delayed and pushed all the way into the current decade.

The development program for the model now seems to be on track, though, as prototypes of the model are being tested on the road. As you can see in the photo gallery above, those tests are not always going as planned.

Our py photographers managed to capture a Wagoneer prototype in an embarrassing situation: stuck on the side of the road, with its two right side wheels hugging the road so tight there is no escaping the situation.

We are being told that despite the clear skies, there must have been some mud build-up near the road because of the lake nearby, and that led to the test vehicle being immobilized. It didn’t get unstuck until a tow truck arrived at the scene and pulled the prototype to safety.

Although these things do happen from time to time, the moment is not the highlight of the day for a carmaker that prides itself with making first and foremost off-road vehicles.

During the time it stood there doing nothing, a team of brave spy photographers made a quick drive-by shot of the SUV's interior, to see what’s there. Their bravery was rewarded with the view of a large infotainment screen, not unlike the huge 12-inch monster deployed on the top of the line Ram models.

As for any official details about the Wagoneer, we’ll probably have to wait some more until they are released.
