This 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Crew Cab Hennessey Mammoth 1000 looks just like a Christmas tree. It is so full of bling-bling, inside-out, that you don’t know where to look first.
So what we are dealing with is not just your usual Ram 1500, but a TRX. What does the TRX do? Well, it brings along a HEMI V8, enhanced looks, and 8 inches in width to the standard Ram 1500, to start with.

And it is not just a Ram 1500 TRX, but a Hennessey-tuned one as well. It thus becomes one of the 200 examples for the model year that received the Hennessey Performance treatment from the tuning company based in Sealy, Texas. The transformation includes a power boost as well as what we can call a major plastic surgery.

The pickup truck is powered by the almighty 6.2-liter HEMI V8, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and an electronically locking differential on the rear axle.

The Mammoth 1000 kit brings along a high-flow 2.65-liter supercharger, induction system, and fuel injectors. The tuning house claims the engine now generates 1,012 horsepower (1,026 PS) and 969 lb-ft (1,314 Nm) of torque. The 8HP95 gearbox steers them toward all four corners.

The aftermarket 20-inch Hennessey wheels are wrapped in 37x12.50” Toyo Open Country tires. A front and rear leveling kit, power-operated tonneau cover, electric fold-out side steps, and bumpers of steel with integrated front LED lightbar and RIGID lights are now on the menu, all installed during the previous ownership.

The list of factory equipment includes the Bed Utility, Trailer Tow, TRX carbon fiber and TRX Level 2 option groups. The pickup truck is also equipped with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and there are amber LED lights integrated into the functional hood scoop. A receiver hitch helps the owner go off-road like a pro.

It is also specced with dual-valve Bilstein BlackHawk e2 adaptive dampers with remote reservoirs. 15-inch rotors at all four corners provide the stopping power.

The vehicle left the factory painted in Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat, which makes it look intimidating. The cabin looks like it’s Christmas already, with so many switches, buttons, and controllers in there.

Black leather covers the power-adjustable seats, sporting contrasting white accents, while the rear bench, also trimmed in black leather with white accents, features heating and ventilation. The flat-bottomed heated steering wheel, dashboard and door panels got carbon-fiber inserts. There are gearshift paddles behind the steering wheel for that high-ride sports car feeling.

A 12-inch touchscreen displays the Uconnect infotainment system, while relevant driving information shows up on the digital instrument cluster with the 6,250-rpm redline tachometer as well as on the configurable 7-inch color TFT head-up display. The 19-speaker Harman Kardon system provides a high-end sound experience.

The Ram 1500 TRX Crew Cab Hennessey Mammoth 1000 also sports a dual-zone automatic climate control system. In order to make driving and maneuvring easier, the vehicle is equipped with blind-spot monitoring and Park Sense parking assistance.

We are dealing with the pickup truck version of a sports car, so don’t be surprised by the presence of the Launch Control function. A button on the dashboard enables the selection of various driving modes, with Sport Mode, Tow Mode, Snow Mode, Rock Mode, Baja Mode, and TRX Performance being on the list.

The plaque installed on the dashboard on the passenger side confirms that we are dealing with a special vehicle: Mammoth 1000 with serial number 009.

The model was delivered new to a dealership in Spring, Texas. It spent some time in Louisiana before it got in the hands of the one who is selling it now in August 2023, just two months ago. The vehicle, available in Colorado, only has 808 miles (1,300 kilometers) on the odometer.

It comes with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Louisiana title. But who ever drives this behemoth home must know that a manufacturer safety recall on the tailgate latch alignment was issued in December 2022. The issue has not yet been fixed on this pickup truck.

The Ram 1500 TRX starts at $85,700. But all the options this vehicle has take it above the $90,000 mark. What Hennessey built, converting the stock pickup truck into the Ram 1500 TRX Crew Cab Hennessey Mammoth 1000 starts almost double that price, taking it all the way to $175,000. The 2021 truck modified last year is still under the two-year/24,000-mile Limited Warranty.

If you want a new one, you have to register on the waiting list. If you can accept a two-year old vehicle, you can find it on Bring a Trailer. With three days left to bid, it hit $89,069. And it will surely not reach the price of a new one. So this beast on wheels really looks like Christmas is coming early this year.
