There’s not much time left until Chevrolet finally pulls the wraps off the eight-generation Corvette. The global reveal of the car is scheduled for July 18, but the presentation event is not open to the general public, except via a live feed. A little while after that though, the C8 will come in the open and show in front of a live audience.
Chevy has big plans for the new Vette. As it probably eyes a significant hike in price for the model, it’s important for the carmaker to make people understand what the new car is all about. Especially because of the shift from a front-engine layout to a mid-engine one.

After the cars unveiling next week, Chevy plans to take the Vette on an American tour, visiting 125 dealerships across the nation well into next year. But the first public stop for the car will be at the end of July, at the Concours d’Elegance of America in Plymouth, Michigan.

Chevrolet does not specifically say the car will be on site, but it most likely will. The official reason for the presence of Chevrolet officials at The Inn at St. John's is the Historic GM Design Seminar where the “unique opportunities and challenges presented by a mid-engine vehicle” will be discussed and some questions answered.

“Concours d’Elegance of America has a long, respected history celebrating the beauty of automotive design, and that’s a history we intend to honor properly,” said in a statement Michael Simcoe, GM VP of design.

“Attendees will be treated to unique perspectives and stories from a number of our lead designers.”

As for the car itself, there’s nothing official yet. Rumors point to it using a twin-turbo V8 engine, the first twin-turbo ever deployed on a Vette, with several power outputs, including a hybrid capable of developing around 1,000 hp.
