Mazda’s North American arm announced today the starting price for the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, after in the past couple of months a wave of rumors regarding prices, production and other specs flooded the world wide web.
Cargo capacity, preorders and price tag were among the subjects targeted by online rumors in recent times. But now, Mazda decided to come clean and share Miata’s starting price tag with media and public alike.

Therefore, the fourth generation of the Japanese roadster will be available at dealerships around the United States later this year, for $24,915. That’s slightly less than the Valentine’s Day hoax said it would cost ($24,970) but at least we know this is official stuff from Mazda and not juat another gimmick.

The 2015 Miata will also offer a six-speed manual transmission as standard along with LED headlights, USB audio input, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming and a leather-wrapped shift knob and power door locks.

“The three trim levels available - Sport, Club and Grand Touring - are tailored for three very different types of customers, broadening the MX-5’s appeal. The Sport model is for those desiring a pure, lightweight, unadulterated wind-in-the-hair driving experience. MX-5 Club is for those seeking a more aggressive appearance and driving experience and Grand Touring models are for loyal MX-5 owners who seek premium amenities and a driving experience that only MX-5 can deliver,” said Ron McLaughlin, MX-5 vehicle line manager.

That’s about all we get from Mazda at this time but a full list of pricing information, specs and option packages will be made available at a later date.
