It’s funny how the Camaro has become sort of like this low-key muscle car nowadays, seeing as how it used to be one of the top dogs not that many years ago. This was back when the fifth-gen cars were beginning to really feel themselves, after the 2014 model year update.
That’s when the Z/28 was unveiled as somewhat of a track weapon, thanks to an aero package that held a large splitter, flared fenders, extended rocker panels, a new rear spoiler and a functional diffuser, among other things.

What really stood out was the drivetrain, a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 with a racing-style cold air induction system, large K&N filter, a six-speed manual, carbon ceramic brakes – the works. The Z/28 could hit 60 mph in just four seconds flat, before maxing out at 172 mph, although again, this car wasn’t necessarily all about high-speed runs.

That being said, we just found a Z/28 that should be good at anything its driver sets his or her mind to. It’s a 2015 model year car, finished in Red Hot and rocking a custom vented carbon fiber hood, and black 19-inch forged alloy wheels with 325/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber at the front and similarly sized Toyo Proxes R888Rs at the rear.

Inside, you’ve got both stock and custom bits, like the Recaro black leather front bucket seats with microsuede inserts, polished aluminum accents, an MGW short-throw shifter, carbon-kevlar door panel inserts, red LED lighting, a trunk-mounted Alpine subwoofer, Rockford Fosgate amp, and a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment system.

To the left of the microsuede-wrapped steering wheel you’ll find an AEM Tru Boost gauge, which you’ll most certainly need given what’s been done to this Camaro’s powertrain.

Under the hood lies a replacement Texas Speed 427 ci V8 unit, rocking the following: Cleetus McFarland “Leroy 1.0” re-sleeved engine block, a Hellion twin-turbo kit with two Precision Turbo 67 mm turbochargers, an air-to-air intercooler system with 4” charge piping, custom crankshaft and I-beam connecting rods, Trick Flow Specialties cylinder heads, custom camshaft, Injector Dynamics 2000cc fuel injectors, ARP cylinder head, a Brian Tooley Racing Trinity intake manifold, and a new aluminum radiator.

The rear wheels get all the power, via an RPM Transmissions level 7 six-speed manual gearbox with a helical limited-slip differential and an external cooler. How much power? According to a dyno chart provided by the seller, this Camaro Z/28 produces no fewer than 1,195 wheel horsepower, which means roughly 1,400 hp at the crank, maybe a little less – but that’s the ballpark.

It’s worth noting that this car has been auctioned off before (earlier this year), but the sale wasn’t completed because of a mechanical problem, which has since been repaired. The winning bid was $69,690, although something tells me you might be able to get it for less this time around.
