They said you can't make a grown man cry or drool. But you can if you happen to own this 2015 Camaro Z/28 that's been turned into a classic Trans Am.
The guys at Lingenfelter have taken a Camaro and turned it into a classic 1970 Pontiac Trans Am lookalike. It's not just any Camaro though, because this is the super-extreme Z/28 mode, the one with the thumping 7-liter V8 engine and advanced suspension. I guess it's safe to say that no series production Pontiac has ever gone as fast as this.
The Lingenfelter LTA Camaro is a modern interpretation of the second-generation Pontiac Trans Am and has been available for several years. A customer from overseas wanted one that's based on the Z/28. Smart man!
This body package is only sold installed and is available several different engine power upgrade options, custom interior options and wheel choices. Heck, you can even have it as a convertible. In this case, the 427 LS7 engine (7-liter) has been tuned to deliver 630-hp and 570 lb-ft (773 Nm) of torque. For the engine alone, you're looking at $10,146 worth of mods that include new valve springs, cams, camshaft and a bigger air intake.
After that, the Lingenfelter LTA package comes along and changes the whole look of the Z/28 to the point where it's barely recognisable. They replaced the whole front fascia, fog lights and grille, added a spoiler. The bonnet is new and makes room for a functional shaker scoop.
For the back, they changed the bumper, tail lamps, boot spoiler and exhaust. For this particular project, 20-inch wheels with a 5-spoke design where chosen. The price? Well, it varies between $45,000 and $129,800 plus the base car (another $75,000). So this white beauty costs about the same as a supercar.
