2015 Renault Lodgy First Photo Revealed in India

Renault is preparing a major surprise for its Indian customers, yet another affordable Dacia model re-badged to look like a French car. After the very successful Duster model, it now seems like the Lodgy MPV / van will make its way to India, as the first preview photo was revealed earlier this week.

What's interesting is how much they've changed to turn the Lodgy from Dacia to Renault. The grille is new and has a lot more chrome to it. The huge shiny surface doesn't fail to draw attention at first sight. Silver roof rails and more trim for the lower door sills have also been added.

According to local sources, the Renault Logan MPV will launch in India some time in March 2015 and will be offered with similar powertrains to the Duster. Production will take place at the Orgadam plant in Tamil Nadu.

There should be at least two engines offered, the base 1.6-liter petrol or the K9K turbodiesel with 85 PS and 110 PS (1.5 dCi).

Renault is looking to increase its share of the Indian market. The Lodgy will target a high-volume segment, competing with the Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

The Dacia Lodgy MPV was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and is part of a new breed of Romanian budget vehicles. In Europe, it's available as a 5 or 7 seater, its main forte being the much lower entry price than its competitors.

One of the major drawbacks is that the Lodgy can be considered unsafe, having scored a 3-star rating from Euro NCAP. Still, that's not really a problem for the Indian market, where the car routinely get zero stars for safety.
