While Renault started the “shockingly affordable” program in UK in hopes of boosting sales, it would seem there are people out there that would spend the same amount of money on just one cocktail. Yep, the world’s most expensive glass of booze is just a couple of hundred pounds less than the handsome crossover SUV and it just went on sale in London.
The commercial campaign has more than two years since it started and turned the Dacia Duster into one of the really cheap and popular SUV models available on the market. The entry-level version price is £9,495 ($15,418) which is kind of “shockingly affordable” considering most other models or even smaller cars are not really able to offer that much space for the money.
Problem is, the world’s most expensive cocktail costs about the same. Priced at £8,888 ($14,432) the drink was created for James Bond actress Grace Jones at the star-studded opening of Gigi’s restaurant in Mayfair. The precious cocktail contains 1990 Vintage Cristal champagne and 1888 Samalens Vieille Relique Vintage Bas Armagnac. It also has “lashings” of gold leaf that give the extra bling, of course.
The restaurant manager Cesare Papagna claims the taste magnificent: “We did not set out to create a cocktail for the fabulously rich but rather to give Ms Jones something memorable to thank her for coming.”
