Although the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 is THE pickup truck at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, we mustn’t forget that GM has just introduced the 2015 GMC Canyon, who joins the 2015 Colorado in the manufacturer’s effort to capture the mid-size truck segment.
Fitted with an array of high-tech features, including Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, GM’s EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate and projector beam headlamps, the GMC Canyon is also more efficient compared to its predecessor, says Shawn Ryan, the truck’s “architect”, in GM’s new Canyon video.
“The customers are definitely going to be impressed,” says Ryan, adding that the 2015 GMC is maintaining the DNA of a full-size pickup truck while being more fuel efficient that its bigger brother, the 2014 Sierra.
Set to go on sale later this year, the redesigned Canyon will borrow all three engines from the 2015 Colorado. This means it will be launched with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6, while a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel will be added next year.
