Revealed last week, the 2015 GMC Canyon is GM’s second brand new mid-size pickup truck. Sharing its underpinnings with the 2015 Chevy Colorado we’ve seen last year, the Canyon is the manufacturer’s bolder and upscale proposition for the scarcely populated mid-size truck market.
While the Colorado will take on the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier, the GMC Canyon is for those that are looking to purchase a more luxurious truck, with additional tech and a bolder exterior design. It’s basically the same Chevrolet Silverado vs. GMC Sierra story.
As a reminder, the GMC will be offered with the same engines as its bowtie-badged twin. There will a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6 at first, while a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel will be added for the 2016 model year.
Before it goes on sale later this year, the 2015 Canyon was publicly introduced at the Detroit Auto Show, where a Grey, CrewCab version of the new compact truck was uncovered yesterday. You can find more info on GM’s new vehicle by following this link.
