We barely had time to post the teaser for the all-new Lexus IS, and leaked pictures have somehow made their way onto the world wide web, and after taking a look at the gallery, it`s safe to say that it is easily one of the most, if not the most, striking car Lexus has ever made, excluding the LF-A.
It needs to be a very good car, in order to even stand a chance at denting the sales of the well-established BMW 3-Series and C-Class Mercedes-Benz. The outside of the car is, as we`ve previously mentioned, striking. The body is very well-proportioned, the front end gets chevron-shaped LED daytime running lights, underneath the headlights, swoopy side skirts, which flow nicely into the rear lights, which are, in our view, the car’s best design feature.
Inside, the cabin oozes luxury, and it the interior reminds us of that of the CT200h, yet the one in the IS seems even more upmarket, and modern. The center console goes back a very long way, and is quite highly-positioned - it ends behind the front seats, and gives the car a distinct sporty feel.
Keep in mind that this is the F-Sport variant, which is the equivalent of a BMW 3-Series, fitted with the ‘M styling pack’, so it gets larger alloys, the oversized front grille, and sportier bumpers front and back. The standard version will be slightly toned down, and the front end will be far less aggressive, in order to appeal to a wider variety of buyers.
