Ford of Britain has announced that the 2014 Fiesta supermini equipped with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is now available with a six-speed dual-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.
According to the Blue Oval manufacturer, when paired with the transmission, which uses electronically controlled twin-clutch technology to shift between gears, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost (100 hp) returns 57.7 miles per gallon (UK cycle) and emits 114 g of CO2 per kilometer.

The six-speed automatic will allow Fiesta owners to use either a full automatic mode, a sport automatic mode or change gears manually.

“The automatic gearbox is an important addition to our range for a large number of Fiesta fans. The combination of EcoBoost and PowerShift is one of the most advanced and dynamic powertrains ever launched in a small car,” said Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.

Also new to the 2014 Ford Fiesta is a non-turbo 1.0-liter engine rated at 80 horsepower. The small unit shares “some of the EcoBoost technologies” and claims to deliver 65.7 miles per gallon combined and only 99 g/km of CO2 emission.

The 2014 Ford Fiesta can be had in several trim levels in Britain, with a base price set at £9,995. The upscale Titanium is priced from £14,445, while the performance ST model begins at £16,995.
