Marc Marquez was one of the last MotoGP riders to test both current and new machinery at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain. While his team mate Dani Pedrosa ended the testing on Wednesday and left, the Repsol Honda rookie put in more than 70 laps on both the 2013 and the 2014 bikes.
Marquez did 60 laps on the 2013 machinery, testing new suspension and engine settings and despite the fact that not everything was perfect, he claims the session was pretty good, especially as he was alone and riding on one of his favorite tracks.
The young Spaniard has also put in 12 laps on the 2014 RC213V prototype and declared it felt alright even from this stage. Asked whether he will choose to ride the 2014 chassis this season, Marquez said he would stick with the 2013 bike, as there is still much to learn about it before jumping on new gear.
Alongside Marquez, Suzuki and Randy de Puniet were present in the last day at Aragon, with their new XRH-1 machine. The Frenchman was .9 seconds slower than Marquez. Suzuki will continue testing and developing their new MotoGP bike throughout August in Japan, at Motegi. Another official test will be attended at Misano, and a private one at Mugello later on, both in Italy.
