CRT team Power Electronics Aspar star, Aleix Espargaro talked with MotoGP.com and admitted he was eager to test the new engine Aprilia has been working on lately, during the post-race test in Barcelona, after the round at Circuit de Catalunya, on June 16th.
There was no hint as to confirm or deny the rumors of whether Aprilia is planning a pneumatic valve engine, such as the one Honda is using in their RC213V MotoGP machine.

However, Aleix did mention that the actual weight of his Aprilia is a bit too much, making it hard for him in fast directional changes through chicanes. Aleix' best result to date is his finish in the 8th position in the Italian round two weeks ago, with one of his rivals, Alvaro Bautista crashing in lap 1, also bringing Valentino Rossi down.

Espargaro also said that a more powerful Aprilia engine would be most welcome, to compensate for the other strong points factory machines have. He elegantly went around a clear answer when Suzuki came into discussion: “It is true that has been some contact with Suzuki, but they have not decided yet if they will return to the championship or not. It is a very exciting project, it is a factory and it would be an official MotoGP bike,” Aleix Espargaro concludes.

The 2013 MotoGP goes to Spain again this weekend for the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya, with the race on June the 16th at 2pm, race local time (GMT +2).
