2011 Jeep Patriot Goes Down Under

Having been officially launched back in late 2010, the 2011 Jeep Patriot SUV has now found its way to the Australian shores, bringing both exterior and interior updates with it. Taken separately, visual changes include new front and rear bumper with fog lights at the front (standard), 17-inch alloy wheels and four new color options.

Interior enhancements are not that obvious, with the most striking features being new soft-touch plastics and a new steering wheel with wheel-mounted controls.

Other standard features include owered, heated and foldaway side mirrors, engine immobilizer, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio control and tilt column. This is also featured with a safety system including driver and front-passenger airbags and side curtain airbags. Moreover, the vehicle also comes with Jeep’s Enhanced Accident Response System.

Power comes from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that can produce 168 hp at 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm (162 lb.ft.) of torque at 4,500rpm. Aussie costumers will also get to choose from two optional transmission systems, a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission. With this, the engine is listed to consume fuel at 8.4 l/100km for the manual transmission and 9.1 l/100km with the CVT.

Other changes as compared to the previous model address the steering and suspension tune. Furthermore, a Chrysler’s active on-demand ‘Freedom-Drive’ system features this model that includes a selectable Lock mode.

For the 2011 Jeep Patriot Sport, the local price starts from AUD30,000 for the 2.4-liter 5-speed manual and AUD32.000 for the 2.4 L CVT automatic with AutoStick 6-speed manual shift mode. The 2011 Jeep Patriot limited, 2.4 L CVT automatic with AutoStick 6-speed manual shift mode, is offered with a price of AUD35.000. On the other hand, the last version or the Patriot Limited 79th Anniversary which with 2.4L CVT automatic AutoStick 6-speed manual shift mode will be AUD37.000.
