Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Goes on Sale in Australia

Thanks to the high customer demand for more generously equipped 4x4 vehicles in Australia, a new limited edition Jeep Grand Cherokee has been introduced Down Under. Limited to just 50 units (!), the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland went on sale at authorized dealerships, priced from AU$68,990.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland includes new features such as HID Xenon headlamps, front and rear park assist, rear back-up camera, rain sensitive automatic windscreen wipers, sunscreen glass and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the new limited edition boasts leather trimmed seats, real Walnut Burlwood accents, power front seats, electric windows, dual-zone air conditioning, power sunroof, heated door mirrors and heated front and rear seats.

Another highlight of the Overland is the infotainment system, which comprises a 276-watt premium sound system with six Boston Acoustics speakers and a 3D satellite navigation system with a 30GB hard drive and Bluetooth connectivity.

Also standard for the Overland model is the 5.7-litre HEMI V-8 with VVT, developing 259 kW and 520 Nm of torque.

“The HEMI’s fuel-saving Multi-displacement System (MDS) seamlessly shifts to smooth, high-fuel-economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and to V-8 mode when more power is in demand. The MDS system optimizes fuel economy without sacrificing vehicle performance or capability,”
a company statement reads.

The model also features the Quadra-Drive II Jeep 4x4 system, which combines the NV245 full-time transfer case with Electronic Limited Slip Differentials (ELSD), for a better off-road performance.

“The system instantly detects tyre slip and smoothly distributes engine torque to the tyres with traction. In some cases, the vehicle will even anticipate low traction and adjust to proactively limit or eliminate slip,” the statement continues.
