2010 Subaru Legacy Gets Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

The 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.0D Sport Station Wagon has been the subject of the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) safety tests and managed to achieve the five-star rating, Fuji Heavy Industries announced today.

However, the most important thing that is worth mentioning is that Subaru vehicles have previously received top scores from other safety tests, but this is the first time that a Subaru gets a top score from Euro NCAP. The Euro NCAP safety performance tests evaluates “Adults Occupant Protection”, “Child Occupant Protection”, “Pedestrian Protection” and “Safety Assist”.

Euro NCAP test results for Subaru Legacy:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 79 percent
  • Child Occupant Protection: 73 percent
  • Pedestrian Protection: 58 percent
  • Safety Assist: 71 percent
  • Overall weighted score: 73 points

Well, since safety is the subject here, the 2010 Legacy features a cradle engine mounting system in addition to its ring-shaped reinforcement frame body, while standard equipment includes Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and the front dual, side and curtain airbags.

“Subaru is committed to offer confidence as well as sheer driving excitement to its customers, leveraged by the combination of its original Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system and Boxer Engine. Subaru believes the achievement of the 5-Sar rating will help increasing the confidence of its customers. Subaru will continue providing peace of mind by further polishing its distinctive technologies,” the manufacturer stated.
