Whenever looking for a cool SUV from the 1990s, the prospect of a fifth-generation Ford Bronco is always just around the corner. Or rather, a few clicks away, as is the case with this 1993 example that comes with a black paint job, a soft-top, a manual transmission swap, and a host of rock-crawling mods. Not to mention the Walt Longmire bumper sticker that clearly seals the badass case.
Before being resurrected this summer (only for its fans to get frustrated for seeing deliveries postponed to the summer of 2021), the Bronco has enjoyed a long and fruitful life over the course of five generations.

The one that closed the case for the series with a notorious O.J. Simpson chase was a 1993 Bronco XLT example of the fifth generation. Not this particular one, clearly, given the black paint job. But it’s of the same year and trim level, albeit not exactly in stock form anymore.

Its black on chrome with a gray interior configuration isn’t exactly out of the ordinary, but there are a few surprises hidden above the meaty tires. First of all, the Bronco ditched the notoriously heavy to remove rear panel for an open-air experience. Weather protection comes courtesy of a matching black soft-top, which looks in good condition both from outside and inside.

Next up is the range of purposeful modifications that should make it even more enticing when embarking on rough terrain adventures. The 15-inch Mickey Thompson wheels wrapped in 35-inch Maxxis tires are easy to spot, but the Bronco also received a billet grille and some additional protection for the chromed front bumper, along with additional lights.

The interior does show even more wear and tear than its exterior, but we couldn’t help but grin when seeing the aftermarket audio setup - it’s so 1990s we immediately got snatched back to the good-old high school days!

Back to the present day, this 5.8-liter Windsor V8-equipped Bronco XLT should have at least some of the 210 horsepower still intact. More importantly, this build comes with the rare opportunity to play the stick shift game – the stock automatic unit was swapped for a five-speed manual transmission.

Interestingly, the auction lists a current high bid of just $3,387 at the time of writing with six days remaining, so it could turn into a great fit even for someone with a tight budget.
