Back in the years of muscle car glory, this yellow machine with a black racing stripe was a sight the Camaro fans dreaded and others admired. Even to this day, this incarnation of a high-performance Blue Oval machine turns heads wherever it shows up.
This is the Boss 302-engined 1970 Ford Mustang, a car that remains one of the most valuable possessions a car collector can have.

Boss engines where Ford’s way of fighting the fight against Chrysler and GM in the growing muscle war back in the 1960s and 1970s. The 302 initially fitted on Mustangs for the 1969 and 1970 model years, has a special place in the hearts of car lovers.

As a result, there are plenty of Mustang Boss 302s to go around on the open market, selling for large sums, each of them bringing something unique or special to the mix.

As many other 302s out there, the one in the gallery above is wrapped in Competition Yellow, a color that has made the model famous over the years, hiding a black vinyl interior.

Virtually no changes were made to the looks of the car, and it shows itself pretty much as it did back when it first rolled off production lines in 1970, 3 days ahead of schedule, as the legend goes. That means all the proper elements are still there: window louvers, front lip and rear deck spoiler, or black taillamp bezels.

Under the hood sits of course the 302ci (4.9-liter) Boss V8, which back in the day used to develop 290 hp, paired to a four-speed manual transmission, .

With the odometer presently reading 42,000 miles (67,600 km), the Mustang 302 just got sold this week for $55,000 on an auction website. That means we should expect to either see it on the road soon, or back on the market if the new owner decides to make a profit.
