You won't notice anything special looking at this 1969 Plymouth Satellite from a reasonable distance. But get closer to it, and you'll immediately notice something that'll make your significant other want the car right here and now.
The Mod Top is a feature that made its way to Mopar cars for only two years. Available on a series of Dodge and Plymouth models in 1969 and 1970, the Mod top was an attempt to turn vehicles otherwise focused on performance and, therefore, aimed primarily at men into fancy companions for women.

As a result, the vinyl top and the upholstery inserts on the seats and the door panels received a floral print design in three color variations, making the cars look girly-ish (or, at least, less manly).

The 1969 Plymouth Satellite posted on Craigslist a few days ago is one of the few examples that rolled off the assembly lines with a Mod Top and one of the fewer units still alive today. The car comes in beautiful shape, with the owner insisting it's a survivor "by any definition."

Indeed, the Mod top makes it a rare Satellite. During the two years, only 2,876 vehicles left the factory with the floral print design, and most of them (over 2,500) were Plymouths.

The Satellite isn't a perfect ten, but it is not far either. It does exhibit some bubbling on the roof and minor rust problems, but the Mod top is in excellent color with vibrant colors and no splits or tears. The Mod Top emblems are still there.

The interior looks good, too, but the driver's seat will require some fixes for tip-top condition. Everything inside is working except for the radiator. It's the original unit, so you'll probably want to have it repaired rather than replaced.

The engine starts, runs, and drives "like a new car." A 318 is in charge of propelling this Satellite, and the owner says the numbers on the odo are original. The car has just 34,000 miles on the clock, making it a low-mile survivor whose place is in someone's garage. However, it's worth knowing that the engine "looks to have been refreshed in the past," so you might want to have this part inspected if you're particularly interested in an all-original, unmolested, and unrestored Mod Top survivor.

The selling price makes sense for a car in this condition and with such a rare option. You can buy the Mod Top Satellite for $37,000, and if you want to see it in person, you must travel to Dallas, Texas. The car can move to its new home on its wheels, but considering the low mileage, you might want to preserve it by taking it on a trailer. A clean title is already available.
