A 1965 Plymouth Satellite convertible that spent a long time in a barn believes it has what it takes to return to the road, hoping to impress potential buyers with a solid body and a rare engine configuration.
Plymouth produced 23,341 Satellite hardtop coupes for the 1965 model year. The convertible was significantly rarer, as only 1,860 units rolled off the assembly lines. The 2-door hardtop could be had for $2,612, while the convertible was more expensive, carrying a $2,827 price tag.

I couldn't find production numbers for each engine configuration, but the owner of this convertible claims their project car is one of only 330 units that rolled off the assembly lines with a 361 V8 engine under the hood.

The Plymouth engine lineup for the 1965 model year included a little something for everybody, starting with lazy six-cylinders for people interested in a shopping companion and ending with massive big-blocks for customers particularly looking for performance.

The 361 V8 was somewhere in the middle, producing 230 horsepower. For comparison, the famous 426 produced 365 horsepower for this model year, while the 170 six-cylinder was rated at 101 horsepower.

The Satellite seller claims their convertible could be even rarer, as only 10 to 15 percent of the cars left the factory with an air conditioning unit.

The vehicle was recently discovered in a barn, though we're not getting additional information in this regard, and it's quite a shame. Based on the photos, it's safe to assume the car has been sitting for at least one decade, so buyers should expect typical rust on the floors and in the trunk. The owner admits the convertible needs new floor pans, but they're included in the sale, so the buyer only needs to install them.

The body is otherwise solid, but an in-person inspection should help determine more information, especially as the photos don't reveal too many specifics. The close-ups reveal only general condition details, and we can't even see the interior.

The 361 V8 engine under the hood is as mysterious as it gets because I have no clue if it's still running or at least turns over by hand.

The good news is the Satellite convertible doesn't come alone. The owner says they also include a 1964 Fury convertible for parts, so if something's missing on the main car, chances are you'll find it on the Fury.

You can find the vehicles in Tampa, and you'll need a trailer to take them home despite the lack of information regarding the engine (as I don't expect the engine to be working, considering the overall shape of the car). The seller will let the two projects go to anyone paying $4,500 for the package.
