This so-called 1966 House Car was built using a 1965 Dodge Coronet, subsequently turned into a proper motorhome by a company called Great Dale House Car out of Denver, Colorado. Turning a muscle car into an RV is probably one of the coolest things you can do, as long as you truly appreciate the nomadic lifestyle.
It’s sort of a shame that Dodge isn’t making the Coronet anymore, seeing as how it used to be one of its longest-serving nameplates a couple of decades back. The Coronet was in production from 1949 up until 1976, although halfway through its run it morphed from a full-size car to a mid-size one, allowing the carmaker to expand its range with other models.

The most popular iteration of the Coronet is undoubtedly the fifth generation, which spawned lots of iconic specifications, like the 440 Station Wagon and Sedan, the Coronet R/T, and the Super Bee.

The Coronet was Dodge’s most popular model in 1965, which is an important year for the purposes of our story, seeing as how that’s when this particular car left the assembly line. As far as we can tell, it only got to live out its life as a regular passenger vehicle for just one year, before Great Dale House Car got a hold of it and turned it into a motorhome.

This company allegedly built roughly 50 House Cars between 1962 and 1966, but something tells us few, if any of them ended up with this kind of power unit under the hood, but more on that a little later.

First let’s run through some of the exterior highlights, which include the replacement windshield panels, dual mirrors, a rear receiver hitch, maroon accent stripes (added under current ownership), and body-color 15-inch wheels rocking 205/70 Nokians at the front and 235/75 Falken Wildpeak rubber at the rear.

Meanwhile, you’ll find a red vinyl bench seat in the front cabin, plus features such as a reverse-view camera, a Garmin GPS sat-nav system, power windows, cruise control, shoulder belts, a JVC CD stereo with PolkAudio speakers, plus a bunch of auxiliary gauges.

As for the camper section, it’s got blue walls, custom flooring, an updated electrical system, 15-gallon gray water and freshwater tanks, a 200Ah LiFePO4 house battery, a 600W inverter, a memory foam double mattress for the cabover sleeping area, three windows, a power-operated ceiling fan, plus a kitchenette that’s been fitted with composite countertops, a red sink, a Magic Chef three-burner stove, a refrigerator, several drawers, and a custom table that can also be used as a sleeping surface.

What’s equally impressive is the power unit that resides underneath the hood. It’s a 489 ci V8 with custom camshafts and lifters, Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold and 600 cfm carburetor, ceramic-coated exhaust headers, custom water pump, and an aluminum radiator.

We’re not sure exactly how much horsepower this has, but all of it is channeled to the rear wheels via a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic gearbox that was installed back in 2016 along with this new engine.

Like what you see? This Coronet-based camper is currently up for grabs to the highest bidder, and if you want to throw your hat in the ring, you best hurry.
